Flax seed Cold Tea

Flax seed tea is another recipe I learned from my mother. I heard of flaxseed when I was a child but never knew it as “Flax seed” I knew it as “Linaza” which is the Spanish word for flax seed. I would hear of linaza or flax seed from my mom and her friends talk about when people were sick from the stomach as a home made remedy like other teas. My mom also would tell me that she was forced to drink this flax seed tea about 3 times a week to prevent stomach health problems. About a year ago I began to drink this tea wonderful everyday for weight loss benefits; again not even knowing the rest of the health benefits that this miraculous tea does. I like to prepare my tea thick with lime. It taste like thick lime water.

Serving Size: 4
Preparation time: 2 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Money Saving: $3.00
To double serving size use ½ cup of flax seed and 10 cups of water and lime to taste.
To decrease servings size use 2 tbsp of flax seed and 2 cups of water lime to taste.

Ingredients:
1/3 cup of flax seed
4 cups of water
Lime juice to taste
strainer

Directions:
On medium heat in a small cooking pot mix in the flax seed and the 4 cups of water. Bring to boil until it starts getting thick. Stir it occasionally. After it been boiling for about 5 minutes turn the heat off and set-a-side to let cool once it’s cool pour through a strainer into a container Dispose the seed and add the lime to taste put into refrigerator for about 16 hrs then drink cold.

TIPS:
If you want to take this divine drink for other purposes instead of weight loss you may like it with sugar, honey or any other sugar substitute.
